NEW DELHI – About 17.9 million farmers are registered on the online National Agriculture Market, or e-NAM, and 1,522 mandis integrated on the platform as of Jan. 31, the agriculture ministry said in a release. The online platform provides access to markets, real-time price information, facilitates quality assaying, and provides infrastructure for cleaning, grading, sorting, and packaging.
The platform also helps farmers make informed selling decisions, as it provides information on e-NAM mandis within 100 kilometre, along with a route map and prevailing prices. It also ensures timely payments to farmers through online payment systems.
During 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), about 20.48 million tonnes of farm commodities were traded on the platform, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ramnath Thakur said in a written reply in Lok Sabha. End
