India Apr-Dec tea exports up 17% on year to INR 64.91 bln, says Tea Board

MUMBAI – India exported tea worth INR 64.91 billion in Apr-Dec, nearly 17% higher than INR 55.06 billion a year ago, according to provisional data released by Tea Board India. In volume terms, exports rose by over 11% to 211.16 million kilograms during the period. In calendar 2025, India exported tea worth INR 84.88 billion, up over 18% from a year ago, according to the data.
Exports from northern India rose nearly 26% on year to INR 48.16 billion in Apr-Dec. Exports from southern India fell over 2% to INR 16.75 billion. In volume terms, exports from northern India rose over 24% on year to 145.75 million kg, while those from southern India declined 9.6% on year to 65.41 million kg.
The average price of tea exported from north India was INR 330.46 per kg in Apr-Dec, up from INR 327.34 per kg a year ago. The average price of tea exported from southern India rose to INR 256.06 per kg from INR 235.51 per kg a year ago, the data showed. The average unit price of tea exported from the country rose to INR 307.41 per kg in Apr-Dec from INR 291.90 per kg a year ago, according to the data.
In 2025, exports from north India rose nearly 28% to INR 61.86 billion, while in volume terms they rose nearly 23% to 191.11 million kg. Net tea exports from southern India fell 0.6% to INR 23.03 billion and volume declined over 11% at 89.29 million kg in 2025. The all-India average price of tea in 2025 was INR 302.73 per kg, up from INR 279.79 a year ago. End
