MUMBAI – Prices of mustard seed fell in the key market of Jaipur and were steady in Kota. Soybean prices were steady, traders said. Mustard prices could rise in the coming days on concerns over supply amid firm demand, the said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell by INR 50 to INR 7,350-INR 7,375 per 100 kilograms as demand from millers was tepid, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were estimated at 150,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as the previous day. They included 100,000 bags of the new crop, according to GGN Research.

In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,850 per 100 kg, after rising by INR 50 the previous day. Arrivals were at 6,000 bags, down 1,000 bags from the previous day, local trader Mahesh Sameriya said. Prices of mustard seeds are likely to rise due to firm demand and concern about supply because of unfavourable weather conditions. Continuous heavy rains, cold conditions, and dense fog across Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have damaged the standing crop of mustard, tightening availability.

SOYBEAN prices in Kota were steady at INR 5,751 per 100 kg, after rising by INR 100 the previous day, Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 8,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day (1 bag = 40 kg), Sameriya said.

In Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, soybean prices were steady at INR 2,900-INR 5,850 per 100 kg, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 3,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), unchanged from the previous day.
