NEW DELHI – The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Friday shortly after it reconvened at 1200 IST amid pandemonium. Members of the Opposition raised slogans and showed placards in the House.
Earlier, the House was adjourned minutes after it met for the day at 1100 IST. Opposition members raised slogans such as "Stop the murder of Lok Sabha" and "Down with dictatorship", visibly upset at the Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi not being allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha on the issue of the Chinese army's transgression into Ladakh.
On Monday, Gandhi had sought to read out excerpts from the memoirs of former army chief Manoj Mukund Naravane, titled 'Four Stars of Destiny'. However, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah strongly objected to it, saying an "unpublished" book could not be brought into discussion. The Speaker sided with the ministers and stopped Rahul Gandhi from reading the text. This led to the logjam in the House. End
