MUMBAI – Dense to very dense fog conditions are likely during morning and night hours in a few parts of Punjab, Harayana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh till Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department said Tuesday. Dense fog conditions are also likely over most parts of northwest, northeast, and central India till Friday.
Currently, a western disturbance acting as a cyclonic circulation lies over north Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, the weather department said. Two more western disturbances are likely to form in the next few days, with one of them affecting the western Himalayan region from the second half of Thursday, and the other affecting the same region from the second half of Sunday, the department said.
Under the influence of these western disturbances, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, are likely over parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand in India on Thursday and Friday and on Sunday and Monday. Scattered rainfall is also likely over parts of the northwestern plains and central India on Monday, the weather department said.
No significant change in the minimum temperature is likely over northwest, central, and east India during the next seven days. In Maharashtra, a gradual rise in the minimum temperature by 2–3 degrees Celsius is likely during the next 48 hours, after which a gradual fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius is expected during the next three days, IMD said.
