Mustard up on supply concerns, soybean up on lower arrivals

NEW DELHI – Prices of mustard rose across key spot markets in Rajasthan amid firm demand for the oilseed and concerns over supply. Soybean prices rose amid firm demand and lower arrivals, while groundnut prices fell in benchmark markets, according to traders.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose INR 75 from the previous day to INR 7,450-INR 7,475 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency.
Prices rose amid firm demand and concerns over supply amid unfavourable weather conditions. Continuous heavy rains, cold conditions, and dense fog across Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have damaged standing mustard crops, tightening availability.
Mustard seed arrivals across the country were estimated at 150,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), including 50,000 bags of new crop arrivals, according to GGN Research.
SOYBEAN prices rose in key markets of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra amid firm demand and lower arrivals. In Madhya Pradesh, soybean mandi prices rose INR 200 to INR 5,550-INR 5,750 per 100 kg, and prices of soybean in Akola, Maharashtra, also rose INR 150 to INR 5,550-INR 5,800 per 100 kg, according to GGN Research.
Soybean arrivals across the country were estimated at around 175,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down 15,000 bags from Thursday, according to GGN Research. Arrivals in Madhya Pradesh were unchanged, but fell 15,000 bags in Maharashtra to 75,000 bags. Arrivals in Rajasthan and other states were around 10,000 bags each.
GROUNDNUT prices in Bikaner, Rajasthan, fell nearly INR 240 to INR 7,300-INR 7,360 per 100 kg, according to the average spot price on the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange.
