MUMBAI – Prices of mustard were unchanged in key spot markets across the country, while those of soybean rose and groundnut fell, traders said. Mustard prices were steady in the upper range amid concerns over crop damage and strong demand. Soybean prices rose due to firm demand.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were unchanged at INR 7,375-INR 7,400 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Prices remained in the upper range due to firm demand and supply concerns. A consistent wet spell, along with below-normal temperatures in many north Indian states, has damaged some of the standing mustard crop. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were estimated at around 200,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), including about 150,000 bags of old crop and 50,000 bags of new crop, according to GGN Research.

SOYBEAN prices in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, rose by INR 50 from Wednesday to INR 5,350-INR 5,700 per 100 kg, according to GGN Research. Prices of soybean in Akola, Maharashtra, also rose in the range of INR 50-INR 100 from the previous day to INR 5,400-INR 5,750 per 100 kg. Prices rose amid robust demand for the oilseed.

Soybean arrivals across the country were estimated at around 190,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), unchanged from the previous day, according to GGN Research. Arrivals in Madhya Pradesh were pegged at 80,000 bags, in Maharashtra at about 90,000 bags and in Rajasthan and other states at around 10,000 bags.

GROUNDNUT prices in Bikaner, Rajasthan, fell by INR 274 to INR 7,538 per 100 kg, according to NCDEX spot prices.
