NEW DELHI – Mustard seed prices rose Wednesday in key markets of Rajasthan due to concerns over supply amid persistent heavy rains across north India. Groundnut prices rose further in Bikaner, Rajasthan, due to firm demand and reduced supplies of good-quality seeds. Soybean prices rose in key markets of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra amid firm demand.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan were at INR 7,375-INR 7,400 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Prices continued to rise on firm demand and concerns over supply. Continuous heavy rains, cold conditions, and dense fog across Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have damaged standing mustard crops, tightening availability. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were estimated at around 200,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), including about 155,000 bags of old crop and nearly 45,000 bags of new crop arrivals, according to GGN Research.
SOYBEAN prices rose in key markets of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra amid firm demand. In Madhya Pradesh, soybean mandi prices were quoted at INR 5,810–5,820 per 100 kg, up INR 160 from Tuesday. Soybean arrivals across the country were estimated at around 200,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down 30,000 bags from Tuesday, according to GGN Research. Arrivals in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra were pegged at about 90,000 bags each, while arrivals in Rajasthan and other states were around 10,000 bags each.
GROUNDNUT prices in Bikaner, Rajasthan, rose INR 205 to INR 7,255-INR 7,825 per 100 kg, according to NCDEX spot prices. Firm demand for groundnut amid reduced supply of good-quality seeds suitable for crushing supported prices, according to traders.
