NEW DELHI – Mustard seed prices rose in key markets of Rajasthan on concern about supply amid persistent heavy rains across north India. Groundnut prices rose further in Bikaner, Rajasthan, due to firm demand and reduced supplies of good-quality seeds.
SOYBEAN prices rose in key markets of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra amid firm demand. The average prices of soybean in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, rose nearly INR 60 to INR 5,650-INR 5,710 per 100 kg, according to spot prices on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange. Soybean arrivals across the country were 230,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 30,000 bags from Friday, according to GGN Research. The average soybean prices at Akola in Maharashtra rose INR 200 to INR 5,454-INR 5,656 per 100 kg, according to spot prices on NCDEX.
MUSTARD seed prices continued to rise on firm demand and supply concerns. Continuous heavy rains, cold conditions, and dense fog across Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh caused damage to the standing mustard crops. The average price of mustard in Alwar, Rajasthan, rose INR 50 to INR 7,340-INR 7,360 per 100 kg, according to spot prices on NCDEX. Mustard seed arrivals across the country were 165,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), including 35,000 bags of new crop arrivals, according to GGN Research.
GROUNDNUT prices in Bikaner, Rajasthan, rose INR 130 to INR 7,050-INR 7,620 per 100 kg, according to NCDEX spot prices. Firm demand for groundnut amid reduced supply of good-quality seeds suitable for crushing is supporting the prices, according to traders.
