NEW DELHI – New Delhi is likely to be "rain-free" during Republic Day celebrations at India Gate on Monday, as the ongoing wet spell is expected to clear by Saturday, Skymet said. The ceremonial Fly Past by the Indian Air Force is expected to proceed smoothly, with visibility improving in time for the aerial display, it added.
"This just-in-time clearance on Republic Day will be short-lived, as weather conditions are likely to deteriorate again from 27th January afternoon, with another spell of winter showers extending into the following day," the private weather agency said. Weather conditions are likely to improve again in time for the Beating Retreat ceremony on Thursday, it added.
Although visibility is likely to be restricted due to shallow-to-moderate fog conditions during morning hours on Republic Day, it is expected to "clear suitably in time for the Fly Past, offering a splendid view of formations and aerobatics such as the iconic 'Vertical Charlie'," Skymet said.
On Monday, early morning is expected to be cool and windy, with minimum temperatures between 8 degrees and 10 degrees Celsius, the weather agency said. End
