India's natural gas output down 3% on year in Apr-Dec, LNG imports down 7%

MUMBAI – India's gross natural gas production fell over 3% in Apr-Dec to 26.38 billion standard cubic metres, according to data released by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell. The country produced 2.94 billion standard cubic metres of natural gas in December, down over 4% on year.
In December, India imported 2.81 billion standard cubic metres of liquefied natural gas, down 0.6% on year. In Apr-Dec, India imported 26.28 billion standard cubic metres of liquefied natural gas, down nearly 7% from a year ago, the data showed. In terms of value, the country's liquefied natural gas imports fell marginally to $1.1 billion in December from $1.3 billion a year ago. In Apr-Dec, the liquefied natural gas imports were at $10.3 billion, down from $11.3 billion a year ago.
The country's dependence on natural gas imports fell to 49.3% in December from 48.3% in the year-ago period, the data showed. The country's total natural gas consumption in December was 5.71 billion standard cubic metres, down nearly 3% on year. Consumption of natural gas in Apr-Dec fell 5% to 52.31 billion standard cubic metres, the data showed. End
