MUMBAI – Soybean prices rose in key markets of Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, and groundnut prices were steady, traders said. Prices of mustard seed and soybean were unavailable in major spot markets of Rajasthan as they were shut on account of Makar Sankranti festival, they added.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were unavailable on Wednesday as markets were shut due to Makar Sankranti festival, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals in the country were at 170,000 bags, down from 200,000 bags the previous day (1 bag = 50 kg).
In Kota, too, mustard seed prices were unavailable as markets were shut due to Makar Sankranti festival, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. However, prices are likely to increase in the coming days as there is firm demand from millers, he added.
SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh rose by INR 100 to INR 2,850-INR 5,050 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals in the market were at 6,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 1,000 bags from the previous day, he said.
Soybean prices in Kota were unavailable, Sameriya said. Prices are likely to rise, driven by strong demand from millers amid high price for imported crude edible oils, according to Sameriya.
Prices of GROUNDNUT in Ratlam were steady at INR 2,800-INR 5,900 per 100 kg. Arrivals were steady at 12,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), Porwal said.
