MUMBAI – Mustard seed prices rose in key markets of Jaipur and Kota while soybean prices rose in Kota and were steady in other markets, traders said. Prices are likely to increase as arrivals are falling and there is demand from millers for domestic oilseeds amid increase in cost of imported crude edible oil, they added.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose by INR 25 to INR 7,175-INR 7,200 per 100 kilograms due to strong demand from millers, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals in the country were at 200,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the same as the previous day.
In Kota, mustard seed prices rose by INR 100 to INR 6,800 per 100 kg as there was good demand for mustard seeds in the state and also as arrivals fell, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Arrivals totalled 4,000 bags, down by 1,000 from the previous day, Sameriya said.
SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh were steady at INR 2,850-INR 4,950 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals in the market were at 5,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as the previous day, he said.
Soybean prices in Kota rose INR 100 to INR 5,051 per 100 kg due to lower arrivals and high miller demand. Prices are likely to rise further, driven by strong demand from millers as cost of imported crude edible oil increased, according to Sameriya. Arrivals in the market were at 14,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day, he said.
