Tea Board says India's exports up 17% on yr at INR 56.37 bln during Apr-Nov

MUMBAI – India exported tea worth INR 56.37 billion in Apr-Nov, nearly 17% higher than INR 48.22 billion exported a year ago, according to provisional data released by Tea Board India. In volume terms, exports rose over 11% to 184.95 million kilograms during the period. During Jan-Nov, India exported tea worth INR 76.34 billion, up nearly 18% from a year ago, the data showed.

 

Exports from northern India rose nearly 26% on year to INR 41.61 billion in Apr-Nov, the data showed. Exports from southern India fell over 2% to INR 14.76 billion. In terms of volume, exports from northern India rose over 24% on year to 126.08 million kg, but those from southern India declined 9.6% on year to 58.87 million kg. 

 

In Apr-Nov, the average price of tea exported from north India was INR 330.05 per kg, up from INR 326.87 per kg a year ago. The average price of tea exported from southern India rose to INR 250.65 per kg from INR 231.99 per kg a year ago, the data showed. The average unit price of tea exported from the country rose to INR 304.77 per kg in Apr-Nov from INR 289.74 per kg a year ago, according to the data.

 

In Jan-Nov, exports from north India rose nearly 27% to INR 55.30 billion and in terms of quantity, exports were up 21.6% at 171.44 million kg. However, during the same period, net tea exports from south India feel 0.5% to INR 21.03 billion and volume was down 11% at 82.75 million kg. The all India average price of tea during Jan-Nov was INR 300.32 per kg, higher than INR 277.10 per kg a year ago.  End
