NEW DELHI – India has met nearly 73% of its total fertiliser requirement in 2025 through domestic production, a government release said on Friday. Total domestic production of fertilisers, including urea, di-ammonium phosphate, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilisers, and single super phosphate, reached a record 52.46 million tonnes in 2025, up from 50.96 million tonnes a year earlier, the release said.
The production in 2025 was driven by new manufacturing capacity and the revival of previously closed units. Fertiliser production has risen steadily over the past five years from 43.33 million tonnes in 2021 to 46.79 million tonnes in 2022 and 50.79 million tonnes in 2023, the release said. End
