NEW DELHI – The Solvent Extractors' Association of India will host the 24th SEA Global Castor Conference 2026 on Feb. 27–28 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, bringing together global stakeholders from across the castor value chain to deliberate on growth, sustainability and innovation in the sector, the organisation said in a release.
India meets more than 90% of the world's demand for castor oil, thereby enjoying a dominant position in the global castor scenario. India's exports of castor oil and derivatives are valued at approximately INR 150 billion per year. "The global castor derivatives market, estimated to be over $6 billion, is highly dependent on India," the release said.
According to SEA, the conference aims to provide a common platform for policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, traders, and farmers to discuss key challenges facing the castor industry and to explore practical solutions through dialogue and collaboration. The conference agenda will focus on issues critical to the sector's next phase of growth, including castor productivity enhancement, challenges related to short-cycle varieties, yield improvement, among others.
SEA said the event will also serve as a business networking platform, offering delegates opportunities for one-on-one meetings with suppliers of castor oil and derivatives, aimed at fostering new partnerships and strengthening existing trade relationships. End
