NEW DELHI – Futures contracts of jeera fell while those of turmeric and coriander rose on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Tuesday. Prices of turmeric rose amid tight supply conditions, while those of coriander increased on firm demand and reports of a fall in acreage in the rabi season, analysts said. Jeera prices fell for the second day on profit booking, they said.

The most-active April contract of TURMERIC was up 0.1% at INR 18,400 per 100 kilograms, driven by healthy buying interest amid tight supply conditions, SMC Global Securities said. Below-normal spot-market arrivals and sustained export demand are further supporting prices, Kedia Advisory said in a note. However, fresh arrivals of the new turmeric crop are likely to begin in late January, which could put near-term pressure on prices, SMC Global said.

The most-active March contract of JEERA was down 2.7% at INR 22,000 per 100 kg on profit booking after prices rose above the INR 23,000 per 100 kg mark for the first time since April 2025 on Monday. Prices had risen earlier due to strong export demand and a sharp decline in acreage, Kedia Advisory said in a note. Jeera acreage in Gujarat, one of the key producers of the spice, fell to 397,644 hectares from 473,615 hectares a year ago as of Monday, data from the state agriculture department showed. Low arrivals at Unjha in Gujarat supported prices from falling further, it said.

The most-active January contract of CORIANDER was up 1.8% at INR 9,960 per 100 kg amid strong domestic and export demand and reports of a fall in acreage in the ongoing sowing season, SMC Global said. In Gujarat, one of the key producers of the spice, coriander acreage was 125,336 hectares as of Monday, down from 129,343 hectares a year ago.
