MUMBAI – Mustard see prices declined in the key markets of the country while those of soybean and groundnut were steady. Oilseed prices are likely to increase in the coming days as arrivals have started to fall, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell INR 25 to INR 7,100-INR 7,125 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals in the country totalled 175,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down from 200,000 bags the previous day.

In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices fell INR 100 to INR 6,500 per 100 kg, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Arrivals were also steady at 5,000 bags, Sameriya added.

SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh were steady at INR 2,800-INR 4,900 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals in the market were at 4,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down 1,000 bags from the previous day, he said.

Soybean prices in Kota were steady at INR 4,801 per 100 kg, according to Sameriya. Arrivals were at 10,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day, he said. With imports becoming more expensive, millers have little choice but to procure domestic oilseeds for crushing rather than relying on imported edible oils to meet domestic demand, traders said.

Prices of GROUNDNUT in Ratlam were steady at INR 2,800-INR 5,900 per 100 kg. Arrivals fell 2,000 bags from the previous day to 16,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), Porwal said.
