FCI sold 2.34 mln tn rice via open mkt sale scheme as of Nov 18, says govt

NEW DELHI – Food Corp. of India sold 2.34 million tonnes of rice as of Nov. 18 to private parties, cooperatives, and small traders through e-auction under the open market sales scheme, the consumer affairs ministry said in its year-end review.
Additionally, 3.17 million tonnes of rice were sold as of Nov. 18 directly to state governments, state agencies, and community kitchens without e-auction participation. Meanwhile, FCI sold nearly 3.31 million tonnes of rice to distilleries as of Nov. 18 for ethanol production, the release said.
Under the rice milling transformation scheme, the government allocated 1.0 million tonnes of 10% broken rice for sale to private parties through e-auction under the open market sale scheme 2025-26, the release said. The government has planned to procure 5.0 million tonnes of rice with an upgraded milling quality of 10% broken content from 25% broken content.
Meanwhile, the government sold 2.4 million tonnes of wheat in 2025 as of Nov. 18 to private parties through e-auction and cooperative organisations for Bharat Atta, the release said. End
