Govt facilitates INR 450 mln refunds via consumer helpline; e-commerce leads

NEW DELHI – The National Consumer Helpline has facilitated refunds worth INR 450 million to consumers across 31 sectors as of Thursday in 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), the consumer affairs ministry said in a release. The e-commerce sector recorded the highest number of grievance and refunds at INR 320 million, followed by travel and tourism at INR 35 million.
Refunds from other sectors such as agency services were INR 13.4 million, electronic products accounted for INR 11.7 million refunds, and airlines refunds were at INR 9.55 million, as per the release. The helpline facilitated refunds linked to around 67,000 consumer grievances from all parts of the country, with complaints received from major metropolitan cities to remote and less populated regions, the release said. .
