India Nov crude steel output up 11% on year, says World Steel Association

MUMBAI – Production of crude steel in India rose around 11% on year to 13.7 million tonnes in November, according to data from the World Steel Association. India accounted for nearly 10% of global steel output in the month.
Global crude steel output in November fell nearly 5% on year to 140.1 million tonnes. Among the top 10 steel producers, India, the US, Turkey, Brazil, and Iran reported a rise in output while China, Japan, Russia, South Korea, and Germany reported a fall.
China, the world's largest steel producer, reported an output of 69.9 million tonnes in November, down around 11% on year. Still, it accounted for nearly 50% of global production. In Japan, crude steel output fell nearly 2% on year to 6.8 million tonnes in November. Production in Russia is estimated to have fallen around 7% to 5.2 million tonnes.
The US produced 6.8 million tonnes of steel in November, up about 9% on year. Steel output in Turkey was up 10% on year at 3.3 million tonnes. Crude steel production in Germany declined nearly 3% to 2.8 million tonnes in November. Crude steel production in Brazil rose around 1% on year to 2.8 million tonnes. Production in Iran rose over 9% on year to 3.4 million tonnes.
Global crude steel production in Jan-Nov fell 2% on year to 1.7 billion tonnes while output in India rose over 10% to 150.1 million tonnes in the same period. End
