Maharashtra sugar output at 3.9 mln tn as of Mon, says sugar commissionerate

NEW DELHI – Mills in Maharashtra crushed 45.9 million tonnes of sugarcane as of Monday, and produced 3.92 million tonnes of sugar, according to data from the state's sugar commissionerate. A total of 193 mills are operating in the state, and reported average sugar recovery of 8.55%, the data showed.
Sugarcane crushing has gathered pace in major districts such as Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Pune, and Solapur. In Kolhapur, 37 mills crushed 10.1 million tonnes of sugarcane and produced 1.01 million tonnes of sugar. The district reported the highest recovery rate of 10.03%, the data showed.
In Pune, 30 mills crushed 11.26 million tonnes of sugarcane and produced 991,183 tonnes of sugar, with a recovery rate of 8.8%, the data showed. In Solarpur, 31 mills crushed 7.38 million tonnes of sugarcane and produced 600,162 tonnes of sugar, with a recovery rate of 8.1%. End
