MUMBAI – Edible oil prices were mixed across key markets of the country, traders said. Mustard prices rose in Kota in Rajasthan, but fell in Jaipur, while soybean prices rose in Kota and were steady in Madhya Pradesh's Ratlam, traders said. Groundnut prices were steady across key markets, they added.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell INR 25 to INR 7,200-INR 7,225 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Mustard seed arrivals in the country totalled 200,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) on Monday, up from 175,000 bags on Friday, according to GGN Research.
However, mustard seed prices in Kota rose INR 100 to INR 6,600 per 100 kg due to firm miller demand, Mahesh Sameriya, local trader, said. Arrivals rose to 6,000 bags from 5,000 bags the previous day, Sameriya added.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 2,600-INR 4,750 per 100 kg, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals in the market were at 10,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the same as the previous day, he said.
However, soybean prices in Kota rose INR 21 to INR 4,621 per 100 kg, according to Sameriya. Arrivals fell by 5,000 bags to 18,000 bags, he said. With imports becoming costlier, millers have little choice but to procure domestic oilseeds for crushing, traders said.
Prices of GROUNDNUT in Ratlam were steady at INR 2,700-INR 5,400 per 100 kg on Monday. Arrivals rose to 22,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg) from 14,000 bags the previous day, Porwal said. Prices are likely to rise as arrivals have begun to fall, traders said. Groundnut arrivals typically peak in October and November.
