India, Argentina sign agreement on cooperation in agricultural research

NEW DELHI – India and Argentina signed an agreement to cooperate in agricultural research and technology exchange, an official release said Wednesday. The agreement between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Argentina's National Agricultural Technology Institute will focus on areas such as sustainable farming practices, natural resource management, digital agriculture, crop and animal biotechnology, and value chain development, the release said.

 

The areas of cooperation include joint research projects, germplasm exchange, training programmes, and study visits, the release said. The two sides will also cooperate in agricultural mechanisation, including zero-tillage practices and the use of drones, as well as plant and animal health, with joint work envisaged on issues such as disease control and biosecurity, it said.

 

The agreement was exchanged by Indian Council of Agricultural Research Director General Mangi Lal Jat and Argentina's Ambassador to India Mariano Caucino, the release said.  End
