MUMBAI – India's soymeal exports are estimated to have risen to 171,000 tonnes in November from 130,000 tonnes a year ago, according to The Soybean Processors Association of India. India exported soymeal to 42 countries in November, with Germany, France, Bangladesh, and Nepal being the top buyers, as per the association's data. Soymeal production in November is seen at 789,000 tonnes, unchanged from a year ago.
For the oilseeds year 2025-26 (Oct-Sept), India's soybean production is estimated at 10.5 million tonnes. In 2024-25, soybean output was 12.6 million tonnes, according to data from the association. India's soymeal production in Oct-Nov is estimated to have risen to 1.6 million tonnes from 1.5 million tonnes a year ago.
Soybean arrivals in November are seen at 1.8 million tonnes, higher than 1.6 million tonnes a year ago. In Oct-Nov, soymeal exports were seen higher at 334,000 tonnes from 241,000 tonnes a year ago while soybean arrivals were seen lower at 3.3 million tonnes from 3.4 million tonnes a year ago.
In November, soybean crushing was at 1 million tonnes, unchanged from a year ago, as per SOPA estimates. Total soybean carryover stocks available for crushing, direct use, and export were at 9.8 million tonnes as of Oct. 1, SOPA data showed. In November, soybean stocks were seen at 7.7 million tonnes. Soymeal stock at the end of November was 162,000 tonnes.
Soybean is crushed to extract soyoil and the by-product, soymeal, is primarily used as poultry and livestock feed. Indian soymeal is not genetically modified and is rich in protein, making it attractive in global feed markets. However, competition from cheaper alternatives such as distiller's dried grains with solubles have weighed on exports. India is among the largest importers of soyoil and an exporter of soymeal. End
