MUMBAI – India's gross exports of gems and jewellery rose nearly 20% on year to $2.51 billion in November and gross imports were up over 36% on year at $1.89 billion, according to the data from the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council. The country's gross gems and jewellery exports during Apr-Nov rose nearly 0.1% to $18.87 billion and imports rose around 7% to $13.82 billion. 

 

Overall exports of cut and polished diamonds rose 38% on year to $919.74 million in November and imports rose over 253% on year to $191.0 million. In Apr-Nov, exports of cut polished diamonds fell nearly 9% to $8.19 billion and imports rose 0.1% on year to $895.14 million.

 

The country's imports of rough diamonds rose nearly 5% on year to $7.38 billion during Apr-Nov. Exports of polished lab-grown diamonds rose around 11% on year to $76.09 million in November.

 

India exported $1.22 billion worth of gold jewellery in November, down nearly 1% from last year. Exports of gold jewellery in Apr-Nov rose over 10% to $7.94 billion. Silver jewellery exports in Apr-Nov rose around 30% on year to $929.94 million. Exports of platinum jewellery during the same period rose nearly 38% on year to $158.4 million, according to the council.  End
