--Cabinet approves INR 12,027/100 kg MSP for milling copra for 2026 season
NEW DELHI – The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs Friday approved increasing the minimum support price for ball copra and milling copra for the 2026 season, the government said in a release. The minimum support price for "fair and average quality" milling copra has been fixed at INR 12,027 per 100 kilograms, and for ball copra at INR 12,500 per 100 kg.
The price for the 2026 season is INR 445 per 100 kg higher for milling copra and INR 400 per 100 kg for ball copra. In the Budget of 2018-19 (Apr-Mar), the government had announced that the minimum support price for all mandated crops will be set at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production to provide remunerative prices to cultivators, the release said.
Kerala and Tamil Nadu are major producers of milling copra, while ball copra is primarily produced in Karnataka. "A higher MSP will not only ensure better remunerative returns for the coconut growers but also incentivise farmers to expand copra production to meet the growing demand for coconut products both domestically and internationally," the release said.
National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. and National Cooperative Consumers' Federation will continue to act as central nodal agencies for the procurement of copra and de-husked coconut under the price support scheme, the release said. End
