MUMBAI – Oilseed prices were steady across the key spot markets of the country again on Wednesday, said traders. Soybean prices are likely to increase as soyoil imports have become expensive and mustard oil prices are likely to increase on supply concerns, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices were unchanged in Jaipur, Rajasthan, at INR 7,200-INR 7,225 per 100 kilograms. Mustard seed arrivals nationwide totalled 240,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) same as the previous day, according to GGN Research. However, prices may rise as Rajasthan's kharif mustard crop was damaged by heavy rains at the end of October, traders said. In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,750 per 100 kg, Mahesh Sameriya, a trader, said.
SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh held steady at INR 2,500-INR 4,700 per 100 kg, local trader Narendra Porwal said. Arrivals were at 11,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the same as the previous day, he said. Prices are likely to increase, as millers will demand more crushing due to lower soyoil imports amid higher global prices, market participants said.
In Kota, soybean prices were steady at INR 4,521 per 100 kg, said Sameriya. Arrivals were at 20,000 bags, down 4,000 bags from the previous day. Soybean have been range-bound as there was poor demand for soymeal, traders said.
Prices of GROUNDNUT in Ratlam remained steady at INR 2,500-INR 5,200 per 100 kg, Porwal said. Arrivals were steady at 18,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), he said. Prices will start rising in the coming days as arrivals have begun to fall, traders said. Groundnut arrivals typically peak in October and November.
