NEW DELHI– Malaysia's crude palm oil production in November was 1.9 million tonnes, down 5.3% on month, according to preliminary data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board. Malaysia's total palm oil stocks in November rose almost 13% from the preceding month to 2.8 million tonnes. Exports during the month were down 28% from the previous month to nearly 1.2 million tonnes, the board said.
Palm oil imports, including of processed oils, in November were at 23,176 tonnes, down over 36% from the previous month, according to the data.
A survey by news agency Reuters had forecast the country's inventories at 2.66 million tonnes, output at 1.98 million tonnes, and exports at 1.44 million tonnes. Malaysia is the world's second-largest producer of crude palm oil and India is the largest consumer of edible oils. At 1206 IST, the most-active February contract of crude palm oil on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives was at 4,092 ringgits (INR 86,742.78) per tonne, down 0.3% from the previous close.
