MUMBAI – Oilseed prices were steady across key spot markets in the country, but demand remained subdued, traders said. Prices of soybean are likely to increase as edible oil imports have fallen due to higher global prices, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices were unchanged in Jaipur, Rajasthan, at INR 7,200-INR 7,225 per 100 kilograms. Mustard seed arrivals nationwide totalled 240,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down 10,000 bags from the previous day, according to GGN Research. However, prices may rise as Rajasthan's kharif mustard crop was damaged by heavy rains at the end of October, traders said.
SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh held steady at INR 2,500-INR 4,700 per 100 kg, local trader Narendra Porwal said. Arrivals were at 11,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the same as the previous day, he said. Prices are likely to increase, as millers will demand more crushing due to lower soyoil imports amid higher global prices, market participants said.
Prices of GROUNDNUT in Ratlam remained steady at INR 2,500-INR 5,200 per 100 kg, Porwal said. Arrivals were steady at 18,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), he said. Prices will start rising in the coming days as arrivals have begun to fall, traders said. Groundnut arrivals typically peak in October and November.
