Sugarcane crushing season for 2025-26 commences in Uttar Pradesh as of Tue

MUMBAI – The sugarcane crushing season for 2025-26 has started in Uttar Pradesh with 113 sugar mills having begun operations as of Tuesday, ChiniMandi reported on Wednesday, citing the Sugar Industry and Cane Development Department.
The mills have collectively crushed 103.582 million quintals (10.358 million tonnes) of sugarcane so far, reflecting a strong start to the season, the report said. Of the 113 functioning mills, 52 are located in the central region of the state, 34 in the western region, and 27 in the eastern region, it said.
Several sugar mills have already initiated payments to farmers, with many following a weekly disbursement cycle to ensure timely disbursement, the report quoted officials as saying. Cane officers have been instructed to swiftly resolve farmer grievances and ensure that all mills adhere to payment regulations, the report said. End
