MUMBAI – Prices of mustard seed, soybean and groundnut were steady across key markets of the country on Wednesday, said traders. Soybean prices are likely to continue being range bound until demand for soyneal picks up, they added.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 7,225-INR 7,250 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Arrivals of mustard seed across the country were at 250,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as the previous day, according to GGN Research.
In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,600 per 100 kg, due to poor demand, a trader Mahesh Sameriya said. Arrivals were at 5,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as the previous day, he said. However, increased concerns about supply could support prices, he added. Part of the kharif mustard crop in the state was damaged by the heavy rains at the end of October, he said.
SOYBEAN prices at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh were steady at INR 2,500 and INR 4,800 per 100 kg for different varieties, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 11,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as the previous day, he added. Soybean prices were steady and are likely to be so for some time due to reduced demand for soymeal, a byproduct of the extraction of oil from soybean, traders said.
Prices of GROUNDNUT in Ratlam were steady at INR 2,600-INR 5,300 per 100 kg as demand was weak, Porwal said. Arrivals were at 23,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), same as the previous day, he said. The groundnut is of higher moisture content due to heavy rainfall during October, Porwal said. Groundnut prices in Visavadar, Gujarat, were steady at INR 4,000-INR 5,500 per 100 kg, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader. Arrivals were at 140,000 kg, he said.
