MUMBAI – Prices of most oilseeds were steady across key spot markets of the country except for mustard, which rose in one of the key markets. Mustard seed prices rose in Jaipur due to concerns of supply shortage as crops were damaged due to heavy rainfall in October, traders said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose INR 50 from Friday to INR 7,300-INR 7,325 per 100 kg, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. In the past few days, mustard seed prices have risen around INR 275 per 100 kg. Arrivals of mustard seed across the country were at 275,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as the previous day, according to GGN Research. Increased concern about supply supported the price, he said. Part of the kharif mustard crop in the state was damaged by the heavy rainfall at the end of October, he said.
In Kota, also in Rajasthan, however, prices of the oilseed were steady at INR 6,751 per 100 kg, said local trader Mahesh Sameriya. Arrivals were unchanged at 6,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), he said.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 2,200-INR 4,750 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were also steady at 8,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), he added. Prices remained steady due to reduced demand for soymeal, a byproduct of the extraction of oil from soybean, traders said. In Kota, soybean prices were steady at INR 4,671. Arrivals were also steady at 45,000 bags, Sameriya said.
Prices of GROUNDNUT in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,100-INR 5,250 per 100 kg, as demand did not pick up, Porwal said. Arrivals were at 26,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), same as the previous day, he said.
