MUMBAI – Prices of mustard seed fell in Jaipur and remained steady in Kota due to higher arrivals, traders said. Prices of mustard seed had risen sharply in key markets in the past few days amid concern over supply shortage and lower availability, traders said. Prices of groundnut declined in one market and held steady in another while soybean prices remain unchanged owing to sluggish demand, they said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell INR 25 from the previous day to INR 7,350-INR 7,375 per 100 kilogram due to higher arrivals, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. In the past few days, mustard seed prices had risen around INR 275 per 100 kg. Arrivals of mustard seed across the country rose to 265,000 bags from 250,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg)according to GGN Research.

In Kota, Rajasthan, prices of the oilseed held steady at INR 6,600 per 100 kg, said local trader Mahesh Sameriya. Arrivals were at 6,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as the previous day, he said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 2,200-INR 4,750 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were also steady at 8,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), he added. Prices remained steady owing to reduced demand for soymeal, a byproduct of the extraction of oil from soybean, traders said.

Prices of GROUNDNUT in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,100-INR 5,250 per 100 kg, as demand did not pick up, Porwal said. Arrivals were at 26,000 bags (1 bag = 40 kg), up 4,000 bags from the previous day, he added.

Prices of GROUNDNUT in Gondal, Gujarat, fell INR 300 to INR 3,500-INR 5,000 per 100 kg on higher arrivals, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader. Arrivals were at 1,350 bags, rising from 260 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), the previous day. The groundnut, which is arriving in the market, is of poor quality and full of moisture due to the rains in the last week of October, he added.
