MUMBAI – India's soymeal exports in October are estimated at 163,000 tonnes compared to 111,000 tonnes a year ago, the Soybean Processors Association of India said Thursday. India exported soymeal to 42 countries in October, with Bangladesh, Nepal, Germany and France being the top buyers, according to the association. Soymeal production in October is seen at 829,000 tonnes, higher than 750,000 tonnes a year ago.
For 2025-26 (Oct-Sept) India's soybean production is estimated at 10.5 million tonnes. During the previous year, soybean output for the whole season was 12.6 million tonnes, according to data from the association. Soybean arrivals in October were seen at 1.5 million tonnes, lower than 1.8 million tonnes a year ago.
In October, soybean crushing was at 1.05 million tonnes, up from 950,000 tonnes a year ago, SOPA estimates showed. Total soybean stocks available for crushing, direct use, and export were at 9.8 million tonnes as on Oct. 1, SOPA data showed. Soymeal stock at the end of October was 114,000 tonnes.
Soybean is crushed to extract soyoil and the by-product, soymeal, is primarily used as poultry and livestock feed. Indian soymeal is non-genetically modified and rich in protein, making it attractive in global feed markets. However, competition from cheaper feed alternatives such as distillers' dried grains with solubles weigh on exports. India is among the largest importers of soyoil and an exporter of soymeal. End
