Rajasthan rabi acreage up 19% on year at 6.05 mln ha as of Mon

MUMBAI – The area under rabi crops in Rajasthan was 6.05 million hectares as of Monday, up over 19% on year, according to a report released by the state agriculture department. Rajasthan's normal acreage of rabi crops, which is the average of the past five years, is 11.25 million hectares, of which nearly 54% has been covered so far.
The area under barley rose to 167,582 hectares from 95,316 hectares a year ago, according to the report. Acreage of wheat rose to 732,213 hectares from 377,191 hectares. The area sown with all cereals was 899,795 hectares, up a hefty 90% from 472,507 hectares a year ago.
The total acreage of pulses was over 1.60 million hectares, up from 1.24 million hectares a year ago, the report showed. Among pulses, the area under chana was 1.59 million hectares, up from 1.22 million hectares a year ago.
The total area under oilseeds was 3.05 million hectares, up from 2.87 million hectares a year ago. Under oilseeds, mustard acreage was 2.94 million hectares, up from 2.81 million hectares. End
