MUMBAI – Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms are likely over parts of Tamil Nadu till Saturday and over Kerala from Saturday to Monday under the influence of a trough, the India Meteorological Department said. The trough stretches from the central Bay of Bengal to east central Arabian Sea, across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and north Kerala, it said.

This weather system is also likely to cause light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and south interior Karnataka from Saturday to Monday, the weather department said.

No significant change in minimum temperature is likely over northwest India during the next five to six days, except over east Uttar Pradesh, where the minimum temperature is expected to fall by 2–4 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours, after which no significant changes will be seen in the next four to five days, the department said.

In central India, minimum temperatures are expected to fall by 2–4 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours and no significant change is seen in the subsequent three to four days, the weather department said.
