MUMBAI – Prices of mustard seed and groundnut were steady in key markets across the country Monday, while soybean prices fell, said traders. Soymeal prices fell owing to a rise in output and lower demand for soymeal, they said.
MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 7,125-INR 7,150 per 100 kg, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Arrivals of mustard seed across the country were at 225,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as on Friday, according to GGN Research. Heavy rainfall in the last week of October has raised concern of crop damage, which could lead to supply concern, traders said.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, fell by INR 200 to INR 2,200-INR 4,750 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were at 8,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up from 6,500 bags on Friday, he added. Prices fell owing to a rise in output and lower demand for soymeal, traders said. Higher arrivals also weighed on prices, Porwal said.
Prices of GROUNDNUT in Gondal, Gujarat, were steady at INR 3,800-INR 5,100 per 100 kg, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader. Arrivals were at 260 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), same as on Friday, he said. The groundnut that will arrive in the next few days is likely to be of poor quality and full of moisture due to the rains received in the last week of October, he added. Groundnut prices in Ratlam were steady at INR 3,100-INR 5,250 per 100 kg, Porwal said. Arrivals were at 22,000 bags, he added.
