MUMBAI – The Haryana government Sunday increased state-advised prices for sugarcane for the 2025-26 (Oct-Sept) season by INR 15 per 100 kg. The price for early-maturing sugarcane varieties has been increased to INR 415 per 100 kg from INR 400 per 100 kg, according to a social media post. The price of late-maturing sugarcane varieties has been increased to INR 408 per 100 kg from INR 393 per 100 kg.

 

The state-advised price is a price announced by individual state governments. The states that have a state-advised price for sugarcane are Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttarakhand, and it is the minimum price at which sugar mills can procure sugarcane from farmers. This price varies from state to state, unlike the central government's fair and remunerative price.

 

The price hike will surely increase the income of farmers, but it will also put pressure on sugar mills to pay sugarcane dues, said Igrain India Director Rahul Chauhan.

 

Uttar Pradesh and Punjab are yet to announce the state-advised price for sugarcane for the 2025-26 season. The announcement is expected later in the month or early November, traders said.  End
