MUMBAI – Prices of oilseeds were mixed in key domestic spot markets Friday, traders said. Mustard prices were down in Jaipur but steady in Kota. Soybean prices were up in Ratlam but steady in Kota as arrivals of the fresh crop began, they said. Groundnut prices fell.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were up INR 25 from Thursday at INR 7,100-INR 7,125 per 100 kg, according to commodities trader Marudhar Trading Agency. The all-India arrivals of mustard seed stood at 270,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up from 235,000 bags Wednesday, according to GGN Research.

The Union Cabinet Wednesday had raised the minimum support price for six rabi crops, including mustard. The minimum support price for mustard seed was raised to INR 6,200 per 100 kg from INR 5,940 for the rabi marketing year 2026-27 (Apr-Mar). "Government has not been an active buyer since the past three years, so the hike remains questionable," a trader from Kota, Rajasthan, said.

In Kota, mustard seed prices were steady at INR 6,550 per 100 kg, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Arrivals stood at 5,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), down 2,000 bags from the previous working day Tuesday, he said. The prices are likely to remain steady as demand from millers remains stable, he added.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, stood in the range of INR 3,000-INR 4,750 per 100 kg, up INR 150 from Wednesday, depending on the variety, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Arrivals were unchanged at 4,100 bags (1 bag = 50 kg). In Kota, soybean prices were steady at INR 4,571 per 100 kg, Sameriya said. Arrivals stood at 10,000 bags, he added. "Prices may fluctuate depending on the quality of arrivals. New seeds have started arriving in the mandis and some are of poor quality, damaged by heavy rainfall, which may weigh on prices," he said.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam stood at INR 3,400-INR 5,600 per 100 kg, down INR 200 from Wednesday, Porwal said. Arrivals rose to 4,400 bags from 2,700 bags Wednesday, he added. Prices fell in the market owing to the lack of fresh cues. Arrivals of groundnuts are likely to fall on the back of heavy rains in key markets, traders said.
