Govt releases INR 5.40 bln to farmers in 3 flood-affected states

MUMBAI – Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Friday announced the release of the 21st instalment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi through video conferencing. The instalment was specially prioritised for farmers in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand, which were affected by the recent floods and landslides, a government release said.
More than INR 5.40 billion has been directly transferred into the bank accounts of over 2.7 million farmers, including around 270,000 women farmers across the three states, the release said. With this, the cumulative disbursement under PM-KISAN to the three states has crossed INR 136.26 billion since the launch of the scheme on Feb. 24, 2019, according to the release. End
