MUMBAI – Prices of oilseeds in key markets across the country were mixed Wednesday. Prices of groundnut were down in one market while soybean prices were up in another market, traders said. Prices of mustard seed were up in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Arrivals of groundnut and soybean rose sharply in markets across the country, traders said.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur rose by INR 50 to INR 7,275–INR 7,300 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. The rise in prices was on the back of firm festival demand, market participants said. "Ahead of the festive season, prices are likely to go up (by) INR 500," Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Arrivals of mustard seed across the country were at 300,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), same as the previous day, according to GGN Research.

Prices of GROUNDNUT in Gondal, Gujarat, fell by INR 200 to INR 3,800-INR 5,000 per 100 kg, Ashok Virvani, a local trader, said. Arrivals rose sharply to 50,970 bags (1 bag = 30 kg), from 1,804 bags the previous day, Virvani added. The fall in prices is likely because of the high arrivals, traders said.

SOYBEAN prices in Gondal were up by INR 100 to INR 3,800-INR 4,000 per 100 kg, Virvani said. Arrivals were at 12,700 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), sharply up from 20 bags the previous day, Virvani added.
