Mixed in key markets; mustard down on higher arrivals

MUMBAI – Oilseed prices in key markets across the country were mixed on Tuesday. Mustard prices fell, while prices of soybean were down in one market but steady in another, said traders. Groundnut prices rose in one market and were steady in another, they said.
Prices of MUSTARD in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell by INR 75 to INR 7,225-INR 7,250 per 100 kg due to higher arrivals, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. In the coming days, however, prices could rise by up to INR 500 owing to festival season demand, traders said. Arrivals of mustard across the country were at 300,000 bags, up from 225,000 bags the previous day (1 bag = 50 kg), according to GGN Research.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 3,500-INR 4,550 per 100 kg, with arrivals also steady at 5,000 bags, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. In Gondal, Gujarat, prices fell by INR 100 to INR 3,700-INR 4,000 per 100 kg, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader. Arrivals were at 20 bags, slightly higher than 12 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) the previous day.
Prices of GROUNDNUT in Ratlam were steady at INR 4,700–INR 5,800 per 100 kg, and arrivals were at 1,700 bags, the same as the previous day. Groundnut arrivals are likely to increase once weather conditions improve, traders said. In Gondal, however, prices rose by INR 200 to INR 4,000-INR 5,000 per 100 kg, Virvani said. Arrivals were at 1,804 bags, up from 1,731 bags (1 bag = 30 kg) the previous day, Virvani said.
