MUMBAI – The US Department of Agriculture has raised its global oilseed production estimate for 2025-26 (May-Apr) to 691.55 million tonnes from 690.11 million tonnes projected in August, it said in its September edition of the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report. The production has been raised by 1.1 million tonnes, mainly due to higher output of rapeseed, sunflower seed, and cottonseed, the department said in the report.
Global production of rapeseed is raised by 1.4 million tonnes on larger output from Canada, Australia, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Moldova, the department said. "Global sunflower seed production is raised by 200,000 tonnes on higher production from Russia and Kazakhstan."
According to the report, global ending stocks of oilseeds in 2025-26 are pegged at 145.01 million tonnes, up from 144.37 million tonnes projected last month. The department has projected world's oilseeds trade at 213.79 million tonnes, down from 214.17 million tonnes. "The global soybean supply and demand forecasts include lower beginning stocks, lower production, lower crush, higher exports, and reduced ending stocks," the department said.
Global soybean production is lowered by 500,000 tonnes to 425.87 million tonnes on lower production from India, the European Union, and Serbia. "Global soybean crush has reduced 1.1 million tonnes on lower crush in India, Argentina, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, and Canada that is partly offset by higher crush in the United States, Egypt, Turkey, and Ukraine." The department's estimate for soybean beginning stocks has been reduced to 123.58 million tonnes from 125.19 million tonnes mainly on an upward revision to exports for Argentina in the prior marketing year.
Soybean meal trade for 2025-26 is raised to 82.17 million tonnes from the previous estimate of 82.04 million tonnes on the back of higher exports from the US and Ukraine. Soybean meal imports are expected to be higher in the European Union but lower in Egypt, Turkey, and Thailand. The global soymeal output is projected at 287.74 million tonnes, down from 288.58 million tonnes. End
