MUMBAI – Prices of mustard were steady in key markets on Monday, while those of soybean and groundnut were mixed, traders said. Demand for mustard was affected due to the poor quality of arrivals amid heavy rainfall in some parts of the country, they said.
Prices of MUSTARD seed in Jaipur were steady at INR 7,350-INR 7,375 per 100 kilograms, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Arrivals of mustard seed across the country were at 275,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up 75,000 bags from the previous day, according to GGN Research.
Mustard prices in Kota were steady at INR 6,700 per 100 kg, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader, said. Arrivals were at 5,000 bags, down 1,000 bags the previous day, he said. Due to heavy rainfall, arrivals were moisture-laden and there was little demand from millers, he said. "There is going to be firm demand a few days before the Navratri festival, when prices can rise (by) up to INR 500," Sameriya added.
SOYBEAN prices in Gondal rose by INR 100 to INR 3,800-INR 4,300 per 100 kg, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader. Arrivals were at 3,000 bags down from 6,500 bags, (1 bag = 50 kg) the previous day. In Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, soybean prices were steady at INR 3,900-INR 4,500 per 100 kg. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags, same as the previous day, Porwal said.
GROUNDNUT prices in Gondal, Gujarat, rose by INR 1,000 to INR 4,500-INR 5,000 per 100 kg, said Virvani. Arrivals of the oilseed were at 3,660 bags from 12,510 bags the previous day, he said. Prices rose as arrivals were lower, Virvani said. In Ratlam, prices of groundnut were steady at INR 4,700-INR 5,700 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 1,100 bags, same as the previous day, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said.
