India July tea production rises 14% on year to 171.72 mln kg, says Tea Board

MUMBAI – India's tea production rose over 14% on year to 171.72 million kilograms in July, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. The country had produced 150.36 million kg tea in July 2024. During Jan-Jul, the total tea production was around 641.44 million kg, according to the data.
Tea production in north Indian states rose by a nearly 19% on year to 151.36 million kg in July. Assam contributed slightly over 65% of the total output from north India and West Bengal accounted for nearly 32% of it, the data showed. West Bengal's production rose over 9% on year in July.
In north India, Assam produced 98.57 million kg tea in July while West Bengal's output stood at 47.68 million kg. For Jan-Jul, the total tea output in north India was at 504.16 million kg.
Tea production in south Indian states fell nearly 11% on year to 20.36 million kg in July. Karnataka produced 290,000 kg tea while Kerala produced 4.63 million kg, the data showed. Tamil Nadu's tea production fell over 15% on year to 15.44 million kg. In south India, total output during the first seven months of 2025 was at 137.28 million kg. End
