MUMBAI – Prices of mustard and soybean were mixed across key spot markets, while prices of groundnut fell, said traders. Groundnut prices fell due to arrival of new crop in the market, they said.

Prices of MUSTARD seed in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose by INR 50 to INR 7,225-INR 7,250 per 100 kilograms as demand improved slightly, according to Marudha Trading Agency. Arrivals of mustard seeds across the country were at 250,000 bags, same as on Friday, according to GGN Research.

On the other hand, mustard seed prices in Kota, Rajasthan, were down by INR 50 to INR 6,550 per 100 kg. Arrivals fell by 3,000 bags to 4,000 bags, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Prices fell due to lower miller demand amid low demand for mustard oil, said Sameriya. "There is going to be firm demand few days before Navratri festivals, when prices can rise (by) upto INR 500," he added.

GROUNDNUT prices at Gondal in Gujarat were down by INR 700 at INR 3,500-INR 5,300 per 100 kg due to low demand amid higher arrivals, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader. Arrivals were at 11,040 bags, he said. Arrivals of new crops have started, but the pace will increase once the monsoon stops, Virvani added. Availability of cheaper imported palm oil resulted in lower demand for the oilseed, traders said.

In Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh prices of groundnut were down by INR 300 at INR 4,700-INR 5,700 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 1,400 bags (1 bag = 50 kgs), same as the previous day, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader.

SOYBEAN prices in Gondal in Gujarat were steady at INR 3,900-INR 4,300 per 100 kg, due to lack of cues, said Virvani. Arrivals were at 11,500 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), up from 6,700 bags on Friday, he said. In Ratlam, soybean prices were down by INR 200 at INR 3,900-INR 4,500 per 100 kg. Arrivals were at 3,300 bags up from 1,400 bags, Porwal said.
