SC collegium recommends justices Alok Aradhe, Vipul Pancholi for apex court

NEW DELHI – The Supreme Court collegium Monday recommended the elevation of Alok Aradhe, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, and Vipul Manubhai Pancholi, Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, to the country's highest court. If approved by the government, the appointments will bring the Supreme Court to its full sanctioned strength of 34 judges.
Justice Aradhe had enrolled as an advocate in 1988 and practised in civil, constitutional, arbitration, and company matters. He was appointed as an additional judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh in 2009 and became a permanent judge in 2011. In 2016, he was transferred to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. After stints at the Karnataka High Court and Telangana High Court, he assumed charge as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court in January.
Justice Pancholi joined the bar in 1991 and served as an assistant government pleader and additional public prosecutor in the Gujarat High Court. He handled cases across various branches of law, such as criminal law, civil, property law, service law, family law, and banking law. He was elevated as an additional judge of the Gujarat High Court in 2014 and became a permanent judge in 2016. In 2023, he was transferred to the Patna High Court and appointed its chief justice in July. End
