Oilseed prices mixed in key markets across country

MUMBAI – Prices of all oilseeds were mixed in key markets on Friday. Soybean and groundnut prices were down in one market and were steady in another, while prices of mustard rose in one market and were steady in another.
Prices of MUSTARD seeds were steady at Jaipur in Rajasthan at INR 7,475-INR 7,500 per 100 kilograms as demand was need-based after the Janmashthami festival, according to Marudhar Trading Agency. Prices were steady as millers had stocked up the oilseed ahead of the Janmashthami festival, traders said. Arrivals of the oilseed across were also steady at 300,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), said Rajesh Patel of GGN Research.
On the other hand, mustard prices at Kota in Rajasthan rose INR 50 to INR 6,900 per 100 kg. The arrivals were at 6,000 bags, the same as the previous day, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader.
SOYBEAN prices at Gondal in Gujarat fell INR 100 to INR 3,800-INR 4,300 per 100 kg, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader. Arrivals were at 4,600 bags, up from 3,810 bags the previous day, he said. Soybean prices at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh were steady at INR 4,100-INR 4,700 per 100 kg, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Arrivals were also steady at 5,100 bags, he said.
GROUNDNUT prices in Gondal fell by INR 200 to INR 4,400-INR 5,300 per 100 kg. Arrivals were at 3,510 bags, up from 1,110 bags the previous day, said Virvani. Higher availability of cheaper imported palm oil could lead to lower demand for the oilseed, traders said. In Ratlam, groundnut prices were steady at INR 5,000-INR 5,800 per 100 kg. Arrivals were also steady at 1,400 bags, Porwal said.
