MUMBAI – Price of soybean fell in the key markets across the country and those of groundnut were mixed and mustard were steady, said traders. Demand for soybean fell after Janmasththami festival, which is why prices were lower, they said.
Prices of MUSTARD seeds were steady at INR 7,475-INR 7,500 per 100 kilograms as demand was need-based after the Janmashthami festival, according to Marudhar Trading Agency, an agricultural commodities trader. Prices were steady as millers had stocked up the oilseed ahead of the Janmashthami festival, traders said. Arrivals of the oilseed across the country remained steady at 325,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), said Rajesh Patel of GGN Research.
In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard prices were steady at INR 6,800 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 8,000 bags, same as the previous day, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, fell by INR 300 to INR 4,100-INR 4,700 per 100 kg. Arrivals were at 2,600 bags, up 200 bags from the previous day. Prices fell due to lower demand after Janmashthami festivals, local trader Narendra Porwal said. In Gondal, Gujarat, soybean prices fell by INR 100 to INR 3,900-INR 4,500 per 100 kg, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader. Arrivals were at 5,100 bags, up from 4,900 bags the previous day, he said.
GROUNDNUT prices fell in Ratlam by INR 200 INR 5,000-INR 5,800 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 1,400 bags, up 300 bags from the previous day, said Porwal. Arrivals will fall hereon due to lower availability, he said. However, higher availability of cheaper imported palm oil could lead to lower demand for the oilseed, traders said.
In Gondal, prices of groundnut rose INR 200 to INR 4,700-INR 5,500 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 1,530 bags, down from 3,360 bags the previous day, said Virvani. Prices fell due to lower arivals, said Virvani.
